| Course Description: |
NAU's Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology's (HIT) goal is to help consumers gather all of their health information in one place so they can thoroughly understand it and share it securely with their health care providers so they get the care that best fits their individual needs. It will be your job to assemble patients' health information, making sure that patients' initial medical charts are complete, that all forms are completed and properly identified and authenticated, and that all necessary information is input into the computer, as a graduate of this program. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the examination offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to become a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). This is an excellent career choice if you see yourself working in the in-demand health care field, but not necessarily directly with patients. |
