The philosophy of AS in ECE with ELL specialization is built upon teaching young children to maintain their native language and culture while helping them to gain skills through instruction in English.  A recent and significant change in school populations has prompted teachers to reach out to young ELL's through teacher development. This degree is designed to prepare teachers with knowledge and strategies to support young children in the process of learning English. When matched with a teacher prepared to help them become competent English speakers, young children will reach their full potential in today's education environment.
