SJVC's Administrative Health Care Management program provides specialized training for employment in physician offices, medical specialty clinics and hospitals. The curriculum includes medical terminology, computerized office organization, bookkeeping and accounting, records management, professional communications, insurance claims preparation, the professional operations of the healthcare facility and standardized medical coding.You will know you are in the right career if you: enjoy helping others, can maintain confidentiality, appeal to a medical environment, like your work accurate and timely, and can follow strict procedural guidelines. You will learn and gain skills in: medical insurance principles, medical terminology, computer skills & concepts, general psychology, Microsoft® Office software, health care management, medical law & ethics, HIPPAA regulations, human relations, and medical office billing & records software. Graduates are eligible for certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) after one year of practice in the field. Graduates also earn Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Certification, and are eligible to take several national certification and credentialing examinations including the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) exam.Earn your Certificate in just 8 months or go on to finish your Associate of Science Degree in Administrative Healthcare Management - the choice is yours.
