Bachelor of Arts in Applied Studies: Degree Completion (Brandman University) The Bachelor of Arts in Applied Studies from Brandman University is excellent for those students who have an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree - in which the student has obtained specialized training at the community college level and is seeking to accomplish an extensive overview of cross-disciplinary coursework. It has been designed as a degree-completion program that prepares students develop their professional or academic background to advance their career and achieve their personal and professional goals. The program provides the students with the opportunity to explore multiple specialties in a generalist's view. The curriculum covers courses in liberal studies, psychology, political science, history, social science, organizational leadership, computer information systems, and sociology. The elective courses enable students to make a customized degree while a unique capstone program gives an opportunity to showcase their professional expertise and abilities. In addition, the general education courses will develop their basic skills in writing and critical thinking, oral expression, quantitative, as well as computer proficiency. Graduation Requirements: • At the least 124 credits. • 36 credits earned in upper-division coursework. • At least 32 credits completed in residence at Brandman; 18 of which must be upper-division credits, 12 of which must be completed in student's major. • A 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale at Brandman and transfer work. • A 2.0 GPA in all major and minor coursework. Departments may have additional grade requirements. • Resolution of all "CI" and "I" grades. • LBSU 300 University College Foundation. Besides the listed requirements above, students are also required to complete general education requirements and major requirements. The major requirements include: • Foundation courses (15 credits): - LBSU 305: Frameworks of Understanding - OLCU 350: Leadership and Professional Ethics - PSYU 421: Cross Cultural Psychology - COMU 312: Group Dynamics and Leadership - LBSU 487: Transdisciplinary Learning Portfolio • Electives - must be upper division (21 credits): Students may pick and choose courses from any undergraduate course offerings after completing the educational plan developed in consultation with an academic advisor as part of the LBSU 305 course. • Emphasis Area in Supply Chain Systems (21 credits): - MGTU 320: Strategies Across the Supply Chain - MGTU 321: Project Management and Supply Chain Leadership - HRCU 352: Labor Relations - OLCU 300: Organizational Behavior - OLCU/CSCU 315: Organizational Information Systems Select two courses (six credits) from Communication, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, and/or Organizational Leadership. After completing the program, Brandman's graduates of Bachelor of Arts in Applied Studies degree program are prepared for careers or promotions in varying administrative, leadership and supervisory roles. Admission Requirements: To be admitted to Brandman University's program, applicants must complete the following requirements: - Have at least 12 transferable baccalaureate-level credits (or the equivalent) from an accredited college or university. - Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA in all prior college-level coursework. |
