The Christian Leadership and Ministry education track was created specifically for adult students who have felt a calling into ministry and would like to be prepared to handle the Word of truth and lead a ministry. This degree completion program will give you the essential knowledge you need to effectively lead a church, a ministry within the church, or even a non-profit organization. OCU understands and supports your commitments to your family and work. In this Leadership & Ministry degree program, you will take online classes around your schedule, without the campus visits or residency requirements. The format of the program is asynchronous, this means that you do not have to log on at any specific time. As an online student, you will learn how to incorporate Christian principles into your personal and professional life, serve in a position of leadership in a service organization, understand scriptural leadership principles as well as be capable of using those principles in real life situations, deliver public presentations and function as part of a workgroup. Students who complete the Leadership and Ministry concentration will be able to: • Integrate Christian principles in critical thinking and decision making. • Articulate a doctrinal position and its relevance to ministry. • Lead a local ministry by implementing a strategic process. • Demonstrate skills in communicating the gospel in a variety of contexts and to various audiences. • Apply practical ministry skills to meet the pastoral needs of a local congregation (for example, administer the sacraments, perform rituals, visitation, etc.). Students in this program must take 124 semester hours as requirement to complete this degree. 51 semester hours are specific to the Leadership & Ministry program and the remaining semester hours consist of general education coursework.
