Bachelor of Liberal Arts (UMass Online) UMass Dartmouth's Bachelor of Liberal Ats offers a fully online degree completion program to students who would like to earn a multidisciplinary degree. The program provides students with the opportunity to obtain a broad-based knowledge of human activities, institutions, as well as societies and to sharpen their ability to think and write critically in the classical tradition of the liberal arts. This liberal arts program was designed to provide students with a balanced liberal arts curriculum, while letting them focus their studies in two areas of concentration. Given its wide academic extent, the Liberal Arts degree gives the foundation for long term career growth and development. Students who enroll in the Liberal Arts degree completion program transfer in up to 60 credits from a community college or 75 credits from a 4 year institution. These credits typically satisfy the distribution and general education courses that are pre-requisites for upper level course work in this major. This online program provides students with opportunities to study a many types of skills in a number of areas of study. After completion of the program, UMass' Liberal Arts graduates will: - Understand the diversity of disciplinary relationships and perspectives across diverse fields of knowledge. - Determine and create multidisciplinary research questions based on key concepts, literature, practices, and issues of their areas of concentration. - Demonstrate critical thinking and communication skills that relate their academic knowledge to civic engagement and issues in their communities. - Conduct research that evaluates and employs primary and secondary resources effectively, using appropriate disciplinary conventions for citation and documentation. - Develop, write, and present original analysis in clear, grammatical prose. With strong communication abilities (oral and written), ability to assess a situation well and develop a course of action, and an ability to work independently, students will graduate capable of fulfilling the top three expectations of the new college-educated employee.
