Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications There's an actual push towards companies placing more investment into making products that are aesthetically-pleasing. To achieve this, they would need a team of creative and innovative designers are typically created to solve key aesthetic problems. Furthermore, the media and publishing industries of today have high standard visual requirements as they look to progress their position in the market, however only highly-qualified people can do this for both businesses and other sectors in the industry. For people to belong to the digital breed of artists, the initial step in such professional ladder is earning a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications. The Visual Communications field has expanded significantly with the growth of web-based advertising and the popularity of the Internet and other technologies. The purpose of visual communication is to artistically display products and information, such as in public relations and promotions. The Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications can be the key to becoming a part of this major push towards design. It will prepare students with the ability as well as the skills in graphic design, multimedia design, web design, and interactive media, and then use their design skill to create, deliver clear, constant messages to the global audience. Expected Income The expected income for graduates with visual communications degree programs and related areas ranges from $35,000 to $50,000. Supervisors and managers make around $64,000. The highest earner typically makes over $100,000 yearly. Admission Requirements Students must have completed high school diploma or GED. Each applicant, except those non-matriculating students, must exhibit proficiency in basic college-level skills as evidenced by attainment of passing scores on any one of the following examinations: - ACT test with a composite score of at least 17 on both the English and mathematics sections; - SAT score of at least 460 on both the mathematics and critical reading sections of the exam; - Accuplacer assessments developed by the College Board. - Students should have secured a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 475 or higher on the paper-based test; - 153 or higher on the computer-based test; - 53 or higher on the internet-based test (TOEFL IBT); or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 4.5 or better; or a Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 70 or better. |
