MA in Christian Studies - Christian Leadership (Grand Canyon University) Grand Canyon University's MA in Christian Studies - Christian Leadership program gives students the opportunity to gain biblical and theological knowledge. It is intended for those who desire to lead as Christians in their areas of influence, whether they are secular, religious, professional, or even personal. The program is targeted on the preparation of leaders in practical application of biblical and theological knowledge in leadership environments, and the development of character and integrity in all aspects of life. Emphasis are youth ministry, include urban ministry, pastoral ministry and leadership ministry. Students in this program conduct professional research and finish a research project throughout the course of their studies. Students will also discover the nature of spiritual formation and their personal spiritual growth through the counseling of others. They can examine worldviews and ways to provide context for the Christian message pertaining to contemporary religious and secular views. The program also aids students explore existing theories, models, and methods of leadership and conflict resolution, crisis, and change as a Christian leader. Students must complete 36 credits to earn the Master of Arts in Christian Studies - Christian Leadership. Required courses include: • Christian Studies: BIB 501: Old Testament Foundations (4 credits) BIB 502: New Testament Foundations (4 credits) HTH 505: Systematic Theology I (4 credits) HTH 550: Systematic Theology II (4 credits) MIN 615: Spiritual Formation and Mentoring (4 credits) HTH 655: Christian Worldview and Contextualization (4 credits) BIB650: Biblical Hermeneutics • Christian Leadership: CHL 520: Theories of Leadership CHL 650: Leading Through Crisis, Conflict, and Change Program Outcome: Graduates of this program are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed face to the spiritual challenges of our complex world and serve as an enlightened leader of a Christian community or organization. Career Paths: Upon completion, graduates of Grand Canyon University's MA in Christan Studies - Christian Leadership degree program may find a range of Christian leadership positions. They may find positions in churches, religious institutions, religious schools, universities and colleges, and abroad. Some positions graduates could pursue include, but are not limited to: - Private School Teacher - Instructor (community colleges and some universities) - Clergy Member - Lay Leader - Church Administrator - Christian Counselor - Minister - Pastor - Religious Program Director Admission Requirements: Prospective students must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university having a minimum of eighteen months full-time work experience and a cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 2.75. Furthermore, students interested in the graduate programs in education should also have a current state-approved teaching credential or should be qualified for certification. |
