The programs have seven concentrations, allowing you to customize the program to meet your needs. The programs' more than 30 courses are taught by an international faculty, whose scholarly publications and years of practical experience have made them widely recognized leaders in their areas of expertise. Master of Science in Legal Studies - Law and Public Policy
The Master of Science in Legal Studies with a track in Law and Public Policy will help you strive for intellectual, personal, professional and occupational perfection. California's M.S. in Legal Studies: Law and Public Policy is directed at those who labor in law, beyond the usual targets of judges and lawyers, and delivers a highly sophisticated legal education that leads to greater levels of understanding and responsibility. A community of students and scholar/ faculty will work online and function as a group of interactive peers. Known as a cohort, this virtual community creates dynamic, lively educational experience that enriches the collaborative skills essential in the contemporary workplace. The courses will be asynchronous; therefore the student will not need to be on their computer at the same time as the instructor or other students.
Master of Arts in Legal Studies
The Master of Arts in Legal Studies degree program is designed for students who are not interested in practicing law, but who wish to develop a better understanding of the law as it affects their legal and non-legal careers, interdisciplinary research, or other areas of interest. While expounding on students' ability to identify and analyze legal issues within the workplace environment, it seeks to expand students' academic and professional development by providing a solid foundation in legal doctrine and concepts.The program prepares its graduates to pursue career opportunities in law and law-related fields, government, business, or as a background for further graduate study. Although some states do not require a Juris Doctor degree for Bar entry, graduates of this program are not eligible for admission to the Bar of any state based solely on their completion of this program. The program in legal studies does not prepare students for the practice of law.
